Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in volunteering? Volunteers are always welcomed and appreciated! Take a look at many of the ways that you can help throughout the year. If you would like additional information on how to volunteer for a specific activity or event, please go to our MembershipToolkit page and sign up!

Please note: All volunteers are required to complete a background check with the District prior to volunteering.  The check is required only once during your students' time at Monroe Schools and there is no cost for parents.  Completed forms should be returned to the front office.  The form is available by clicking here:  District Volunteer Form.



General Volunteer



Some volunteers are needed on an ad-hoc basis or when extra help is needed.  This is a great way to be involved with various activities for your children.

Baking/Hospitality



This job is great for anyone that would like to help, but has limited time! Volunteers are needed periodically throughout the school year for baking and providing food for various teacher/ volunteer events, such as teacher goody bags, teacher appreciation week, etc.

School Store


Kids love coming to school store! School supplies and other small items are available for students to purchase once a month during lunch waves. Co-Directors are responsible for purchasing inventory. Volunteers are needed to help set up and sell items.

Memory Book



This amazing book filled with memories from the school year is only possible due to numerous volunteers!
Co-Directors work with the vendor and coordinate volunteers. Volunteers assist the co-directors with various aspects of producing the Memory Book, including providing photographs, web-based layout design, and accounting.

Box Tops for Education



Earn money for our PTO by saving Box Tops from various products! Co-chairs coordinate the Box Top contest and mail the final submissions. Volunteers assist with the Box Tops contest and prize distribution.  Help is also needed throughout the year clipping and bagging Box Tops for submission.

PTO Bulletin Boards



Kids love to see their names up on the monthly birthday board! These co-chairs update the PTO bulletin board with new PTO Board members at the beginning of the year and then update the student birthday bulletin board on a monthly basis.

Directory Donations



Directory donations help the PTO to cover the cost of printing the annual directory for PTO members. Whether you already know local business owners or you would like to meet more, this is the job for you! Co-chairs coordinate volunteers to get monetary donations from local businesses. Businesses that donate above a certain amount are recognized in the PTO Directory.

August-September


Kindergarten Social



This fun event occurs before school starts to help kindergarteners to meet each other!  Co-chairs notify incoming kindergarten parents of dates, prepares name tags and purchases ice pops.

Wecome Back Social



This event is our "welcome back to school" event! 
Co-chairs coordinate responses and purchase ice cream or italian ice. Volunteers help set up, distribute ice cream or italian ice and clean up on the day of the event.

September


Room Rep Breakfast



Room Representative Director organizes the breakfast for new room reps and parents interested in volunteering in the classroom.  Volunteers are needed to set-up/clean-up and bring baked goods.

Grow with Me Trees



Chairperson
orders trees to be given to kindergarten parents on back-to-school night. Volunteers are need to package them in plastic bags with ribbons and sort into baskets for each classroom.

Fall Catalog Fundraiser



Co-chairs coordinate the distribution of catalogs and ensure that all orders received are submitted and accurate. Volunteers are needed to help sort all incoming orders for distribution to parents.

Picture Day



Fun to help and see your kids in school! Co-chairs coordinate volunteers for the day. Volunteers help the children come to the proper waiting area, primp before their picture gets taken and direct traffic when more than one class is there.  They also help the photographer and staff organize children/ envelopes. 

October

Walk-a-thon Fundraiser



Co-chairs work with Mr. Troesser to plan the event during the physical education classes and coordinate volunteers. Volunteers help on the day of the event counting student laps.

Apparel Sale



Apparel sales alternate from year to year - Fawn Hollow apparel one year, Turkey Trot shirts the next. Co-chairs work directly with vendor to proof design and place orders. Volunteers are needed to help sort all apparel orders before distribution to parents.

Trick or Trunk



This is a great family event where people sign up to Trick or Treat in the FH parking lot. Decorate your trunk, dress up and go from trunk to trunk for goodies. Volunteers are needed to get the flyer out, keep track of participants and purchase food for the event.

Teacher Goody Bags



Gift bags are created as a token of appreciation to the teachers for the time and effort they put in during parent/teacher conferences.   Co-chairs determine the items needed and coordinate volunteers. Volunteers are needed to supply items for the bags and also help put the bags together.

April

Season of Giving
(a.k.a. Holiday Giving Tree)



This town-wide program helps provide gifts for the less fortunate in our town during the holiday season. Co-chairs act as liaison with Monroe Social Services and coordinates volunteers for the Fawn Hollow trees. Volunteers help set up giving trees, gather donated presents and bring them to a location determined by Monroe Social Services.

Book Fairs



The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

Co-chairs coordinate timing and delivery/pick-up of books with Scholastic Book Fairs. Volunteers are needed to help set up and take down displays and work shifts during the sale. Volunteer shifts are available during the day and at night.

Holiday Breakfast



Help cook breakfast and entertain many Fawn Hollow families! Very popular event that needs a lot of help! Co-chairs determine the menu, shop for food and other items, and coordinate volunteers. Volunteers set up, cook, serve and clean up. Volunteers are also needed to plan and run activity stations. Due to the popularity of this event, there are 3 seatings. That makes it easy to work one and enjoy another. Volunteer by yourself or with a group of friends!

Holiday Store



This event runs in conjunction with the Holiday Breakfast. Volunteers are needed to create and donate crafts, in addition to helping with sales at the tables during the Holiday Store.

Penny War Charity Drive



This is a charity event!  It is a grade level competition to see which grade can bring in the most pennies.  The winning grade level students decide which charity will receive the funds.  Volunteers are needed to keep track of progress for all teams and assist in bringing penny jugs to Commerce Bank for counting.

Family Movie Night



Co-chairs plan and advertise a family movie to show in the All Purpose Room.  Volunteers are needed for
set-up/clean-up and selling refreshments.

Family Bingo Night




BINGO!! This sell-out event is another family favorite! Co-chairs coordinate volunteers, organize pizza sales, oversee any raffle/auction items. Volunteers are needed to seek donations for raffle/auction items and to assemble items into baskets, as necessary.

Celebration of Reading



Co-chairs work with town-wide coordinator to plan one day event where local individuals are guest readers in each classroom. Volunteers are needed for reception afterward. There may also be additional activities to highlight reading during this week.

Mother/Daughter Event   



Co-chairs work with committee to determine the theme and activities that should be planned. Depending on the activity chosen, volunteers are needed for general prep, set-up/clean-up, tickets and any activities. [Mother/Daughter alternates each year with Mother/Son.]

Spring

Father/Son Event




Co-chairs work with committee to determine the theme and activities that should be planned.
Depending on the activity chosen, volunteers are needed for general prep, set-up/clean-up, tickets and any activities. [Father/Son alternates each year with Father/Daughter.]

Spring

Quassy Night



Co-chair coordinates date with other elementary schools, prepares flyer and collects responses. Co-chair also obtains and distributes tickets for the event.

Teacher Appreciation Week



Co-chairs coordinate activities for the week and lunch for the teachers. Volunteers are needed to make salads, bake desserts and serve at the luncheon. Volunteers may also be needed to assemble any teacher appreciation goody bags and assist with any other activities.

Plant Sale



Co-chairs coordinate all plant orders and delivery to school. Event takes place on the Thursday (teachers only) and Friday before Mother's Day to allow students to purchase gifts for the special women in their lives. Volunteers are needed for set/clean ups and working at the sale.

Fawn Hollow Follies
(a.k.a. Talent Show or Variety Show)




This event is for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Volunteers are needed for tryouts and rehearsals, set-up and clean-up, backstage, audio and visual, layout of Playbill, coordination with Music and Art teachers, set design, ticketing and snack sales.
The Talent Show co-chairs are looking for future co-chairs to shadow them this year and take over next year.

May

Memorial Day Parade 



Co-chairs coordinate with the town for Fawn Hollow's participation in the annual Memorial Day parade and recruits students and staff to participate in a marching unit.  Volunteers also help to organize the march and participate on parade day.

Kindergarten Orientation   



Co-chairs seek volunteers to accompany children for the bus ride during the orientation for incoming kindergarteners.

End of Year Picnic



This fun end-of-year celebration has lots of food and activities for the whole family! Co-chairs coordinate the event, including registration, purchasing supplies, and arranging activities. Volunteers are needed for set-up, clean-up, food prep/serving and running the activities.
